Bulgaria's Ivet Lalova-Collio to Run in Rio 2016 Sprint Semifinals
Bulgarian athlete Ivet Lalova-Collio is to compete in the 100 m sprint semifinals of the Rio Olympics on Sunday (Bulgarian time).
Top Bulgarian athlete Gabriela Petrova has tested positive for meldonium, her manager has told the media.
Petrova, who won the Sportsperson of the Year competition in December, maintains she used the substance in October of last year, two months before it was banned at the beginning of 2016.
The triple jumper's manager has said she will be waiting for a general decision on meldonium from the World Anti-Doping Association (WADA), which will follow a number of recent cases of top sportspeople from the former Soviet bloc who have tested positive for the substance over the past two months.
Even though she still has rights to compete, it is not yet clear whether she will be admitted to the Rio Olympics this summer.
