Foreign Interest Surges in Bulgarian Property Market, Especially in Resorts
Real estate agents have reported a surge in property purchases by foreigners in Bulgaria's resorts and major cities like Sofia, Plovdiv, Varna, and Burgas
Sofia City Court (SGS) convicted on Monday the leader of nationalist Ataka party, Volen Siderov, and his fellow party member, Desislav Chukolov, of hooliganism.
Siderov and Chukolov are convicted of hooliganism for their incursion into the building of the National academy for theatre and film arts (NATFIZ) on the night of the local elections on October 25 last year.
The two MPs were involved in several incidents around the building of NATFIZ last year, entering into brawls with citizens, students and policemen.
Last week, it emerged that Siderov and Chukolov had reached an agreement to plead guilty to three charges in exchange for serving their sentences on probation.
SGS approved the agreement between the defendants and the prosecutor's office on the hooliganism charge, which is not subject to appeal or protest.
As a result, starting from Tuesday, Siderov will serve a probation of nine months, while Chukolov's sentence is for the duration of six months.
They will be subject to compulsory address registration at the probation service, regular meetings with probation officers and 13 % deduction from their salaries.
Last week, pleaded guilty to the interruption of 2011 concert in the town of Batak, the attack on journalist and policeman in front of the parliament building in 2013 and the incursion into NATFIZ in 2015.
