The Austrian government invited Bulgaria for participation at an extraordinary meeting between the interior and foreign ministers of the countries along the Western Balkans migrant route.
The invitation was sent by Austria’s Interior Minister Johanna Mikl-Leitner and Foreign Minister Sebastian Kurz.
The aim of the meeting is to clarify the policy towards migrants after Austrian authorities introduced border restrictions and daily quotas and to coordinate efforts between the countries on limiting migration.
The meeting is scheduled to take place on Wednesday, just a day before the interior ministers of the EU member states are set to gather at the Justice and Home Affairs Council in Brussels.
The meeting organised by Austria will be attended by ministers from Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Kosovo, Macedonia, Montenegro, Serbia and Slovenia.
The meeting will also attended by Austrian Defence Minister Hans Peter Doskozil, BGNES news agency informs.
Austria has repeatedly called for closer cooperation between the countries along the Western Balkans route in dealing with the migrant crisis.
