A female body was found on the northern beach in the Bulgarian Black Sea town of Chernomorets on Thursday morning.
The body stood about a metre into the water and it was spotted by a man walking along the beach, Focus news agency informs.
After the body was recovered from the water, it was identified as belonging to a 53-year-old woman from Stara Zagora.
Authorities are firm in their conclusion that the cause of death was drowning and there are no signs of the woman being subject to violence.
The personal belongings of the woman – a mobile phone, money and identity documents were found in her clothes.
Officers from the district police department in Sozopol are continuing their work on the case.
