British Armed Forces Minister Visits Bulgaria Ahead of NATO Summit
The British Minister of the Armed Forces, Leo Doherty, is set to embark on a two-day visit to Bulgaria, as announced by the British Embassy
Hungary will be forced to turn to Bulgaria and Macedonia if Greece refuses to stop the flow of migrants into the country, the country's FOreign Minister Peter Szijjarto has said.
Szijjarto is on a visit to Bulgaria on Wednesday.
He has warned Greece is proving incapable of protecting its borders from migrants, allowing hundreds of thousands to find their way into Europe.
If Austria decides to seal off its borders, many of the asylum seekers will try to continue their journey to Western Europe via Hungary or Romania, Szijjarto opines, days after reports of migrants detained while crossing Romania en route to the West.
Szijjarto has not elaborated on the assistance he would expect from Bulgaria or Macedonia.
His words come against the backdrop of UN figures suggesting the number of migrants who entered Greece since the beginning of the year is twenty-one times the number of the first three weeks of last year.
As many as 31 244 people have arrived in the Southeastern European country since January 01, compared to 1472 between January 01 and 19, 2015.
