The Confederation of Employers and Industrialists in Bulgaria (KRIB) expressed on Monday its indignation at the recent murder of fashion entrepreneur Aleksandar Antov.
Antov, who was the owner of Agressia ("Aggression") fashion company, was found dead with gunshot wounds in the Bistritsa neighbourhood of Sofia early on Saturday.
This was the second murder of a businessman to occur in the Bulgarian capital last week after that of suspected mobster Veselin Stoimenov on Thursday evening.
In an open letter addressed to Interior Minister Rumyana Bachvarova, Prime Minister Boyko Borisov and Chief Prosecutor Sotir Tsatsarov, KRIB called on authorities to speed up their efforts on identifying and arresting the perpetrators.
The confederation questioned the need of an interior ministry, interior minister and the allocation of BGN 1 B from the government budget to these institutions when everyone could be “shot like a dog”.
KRIB expressed discontent with the fact that on the third day of the murder, authorities have neither identified suspects nor carried out any arrests.
The letter reminded that at the end of last year, the four nationally-represented employers' organisations had issued a joint declaration in support of the will demonstrated by the government and the management of the interior ministry for reforms in the security sector.
However this has not brought any improvements to the system as murders and threats to one's private security continued to be rife on streets of Bulgaria and no one could feel safe across the country.
KRIB called for the immediate identification and detention of the perpetrators of the murder or the resignation of Bachvarova.
