Bulgaria’s top tennis player Grigor Dimitrov and his doubles partner Kei Nishikori (Japan) have defeated the tandem of Lukas Dlouhy (Czech Republic) and Dominic Thiem (Austria) on the first day of the season-opening Brisbane International tournament on Sunday.
Dimitrov and Nishikori needed less than an hour and a half to win 7-6, 6-2 and go to the quarter-finals. There they will meet either the French duo Nicolas Mahut- Pierre-Hugues Herbert or Thomaz Bellucci (Brazil) and Steve Johnson (USA).
On Monday, Dimitrov will clash with fifth-seeded Gilles Simon (France) in singles.
