Weather in Bulgaria: Rain and Clouds Across the Country
As Bulgarians gear up for the day ahead, weather forecasts paint a picture of mixed conditions across the country for May 10
According to the latest figures of the National Statistical Institute (NSI) released on Monday, the trips of Bulgarian citizens abroad in November 2015 amounted to 305 184, which represented an increase of 12.7 % compared to the same month last year.
There was an increase in the number of trips of Bulgarians to Macedonia, the UK, Italy, Spain, Greece, Germany, Austria, Romania and Turkey.
At the same time, Bulgarians completed fewer trips to France and Russia.
The trips for other purposes (visiting relatives and friends; education; attending cultural and sports events) represented the largest relative share of trips completed by Bulgarians abroad, followed by holiday travel and excursions and business trips.
Compared to November 2014, there was an increase in the number of trips for other purposes and business trips, while the number of holiday travel and excursions decreased.
In November, 62.3 % of all trips to the United Kingdom and 59.5 % of those to Turkey were for other purposes.
Business trips constituted 59.1 % of all trips made by Bulgarians to Russia, while holiday travel and excursions accounted for 45.9 % of all trips to Spain.
In November, the visits of foreigners to Bulgaria amounted to 436 759, which represented an increase of 0.8 % compared to the same month in 2014.
There was an increase in the number of holiday travels and excursions as well as trips for other purposes, while business trips recorded a decrease.
The share of EU citizens was 52.5 % out of the total number of foreigners visiting Bulgaria in November, which represented a drop of 0.4 % compared to the same month last year.
There was a decrease in the number of visitors from Hungary, Austria, the Netherlands and Slovakia, while there was a growth in the number of guests from Germany, the UK, the Czech Republic, Spain, Romania and Greece.
There was an increase in the number of visitors from other European countries, the greatest growth being in the number of guests from Macedonia.
In November, trips for other purposes had the largest relative share, followed by holiday travel and excursions and business trips.
Holiday travel and excursions accounted for 93.2 % and 82.7 % out of all trips completed by visitors from respectively Israel and Macedonia.
Business trips represented 70.8 % of all visits from Poland, while trips for other purposes constituted 68.8 % and 67.7 % out of all trips made by visitors from respectively Greece and Romania.
