Police have found an explosive belt dumped in a dustbin in Paris, French TV channel BFM reported on Monday.
The explosive belt – without a detonator – has been found in the southern Paris suburb of Montrouge, BFM reported, citing an inside source.
According to initial assessments, the explosive device is similar to those used by suicide bombers in the attacks in Paris on November 13 and the subsequent police raid on a house in the city’s suburb of Saint-Denis.
According to French investigators, the telephone of Salah Abdeslam – a suspect still at large - had been localized several hours after the attacks in Chatillon, a community adjacent to Montrouge, close to the area where the explosive belt was found.
Abdeslam is believed to have given up on detonating his belt before fleeing to Belgium with two alleged accomplices, currently under arrest, according to BFM.
