Inside Bulgaria's Easter Celebrations: Traditions Passed Through Generations
Today marks the joyous celebration of Easter, one of the most significant holidays in the Orthodox Christian calendar.
Bulgarian Foreign Minister Daniel Mitov stated on Tuesday that the country's relations with Russia are not in such a bad shape.
Mitov made it clear that Bulgaria is a country belonging to a certain community and committed to a certain set of values and therefore it had to respect certain rules in national and international aspect, he said in an interview for private bTV station.
The foreign minister said that when a country violates a set of agreements, which it had previously signed, then someone had to react.
He firmly believed that the relations with Moscow have not been annihilated and this was demonstrated by the statement of Russian President Vladimir Putin that despite all the difficulties, his country is ready to cooperate with Bulgaria on the realisation of projects in various areas.
The latest remarks of Putin that Bulgaria's NATO membership does not mean an end to its relationship with Russia were also signs in this direction.
In the words of Mitov, Russia had no problems with the foreign policy of Bulgaria and the country's NATO membership.
According to him, Russia was demonstrating a goodwill in developing its relations with Bulgaria and it was important that the relationship was based on an equal footing.
Mitov reminded that some of his colleagues from the Bulgarian government have paid visits to Russia.
He noted that there was still no clear position whether the projected South Stream pipeline has been halted or not despite its announced cancellation in December 2014.
According to Mitov, the situation in Ukraine remained the same as it had been several months ago and not much was being done by the parties to the conflict to restore the normality.
