According to a diplomatic source of RIA Novosti in Brussels, a total of seven NATO member countries are planning to decrease their military budgets.
Apart from Bulgaria, the six other countries planning cuts in their spending on defence are Belgium, the UK, Germany, Italy, Hungary and Canada.
NATO requires from its member countries to allocate 2 % of their GDP to defence.
The countries fulfilling this requirement are Latvia, Lithuania, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland and Romania.
The French government allocates to defence an amount, which is slightly below the required 2 %.
