Debt Dispute In A Bulgarian Village Ends in Tragic Murder Over 42 BGN
A horrifying incident unfolded in the quiet village of Yudelnik, near Ruse, as a dispute over a mere 42 BGN (21 EUR) culminated in a fatal outcome
A neighborhood located several km away from a northern Bulgarian village has its bread delivered by a van also used to transport the bodies of deceased residents.
Locals in Chukova Mahala, who are mostly elderly people, say they find it impossible to reach the single bakery in Tetovo, a village near Ruse, because it would take too long to walk there.
Private national NOVA TV station, which told their story on Friday morning, reports that residents had asked Tetovo's mayor for assistance and had received a positive response: the single van owned by the local authorities would go to Chukova Mahala to provide bread on a daily basis.
"What else does the van carry?" a reporter asks a local and he is hear saying: "Those who die."
Locals say they are worried but have no choice.
"We could now be forced into anything... this is what life is like," another local says.
Officials at the Bulgarian Food Safety Agency (BFSA) have reproached the practice asked by a reporter with NOVA, also triggering an inspection.
