New Russian Missile Attacks in Ukraine
Ukraine finds itself once again under fire from Russian missiles, marking a new wave of violence in the region
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has told Serbian counterpart Ivica Dacic his country would only back solutions on Kosovo that are in line with UNSC Resolution 1244.
Visiting Belgrade on Friday, Lavrov said Moscow considered "acceptable" those decisions that "will satisfy Serbia".
Russia, like Serbia itself, is adamant it will not recognize Kosovo as an independent state, though many other countries did so after the latter unilaterally broke away from Serbia on February 17, 2008.
The top Russian diplomat hailed trade exchange between the two partners and praised Russian companies' infrastructure efforts in the country, B92 reported.
Radio Free Europe quotes Serbia's Dacic as saying his country would not "sacrifice" relations with Russia in the name of EU membership.
Meetings with Serbian President Tomislav Nikolic and PM Aleksandar Vucic are also expected as part of Lavrov's Friday agenda.
