EU to Allocate Frozen Russian Assets to Aid Ukraine
The EU has made a significant decision to allocate profits from its frozen Russian assets to support Ukraine's self-defense and recovery efforts amidst ongoing Russian aggression
A new strong earthquake hit Nepal on Sunday morning. The magnitude measured was 6.9 on the Richter scale. It happened merely a day after Saturday's catastrophic incident.
Over 2,500 have been killed, and over 5,000 people have been injured during the natural disaster. The numbers are likely to increase as the authorities have not been able to reach all affected regions close to the epicenter of the quake.

Hundreds of buildings have been leveled including hundred year old architectural monuments. Communication cables have been cut thus leaving a large portion of Nepal disconnected from the world.
Millions of people spend the night on the streets, fearing additional quakes. Doctors have been working directly on the streets amids the destroyed buildings. Nepal government has demanded emergency help from construction companies for the process of clearing up remnants of buildings from the streets.
International Committee of the Red Cross has urged for coordinated assistance to be provided for the injured people. Director of the organizations' Pacific region Jagan Chapagain has stated the victims recovery will remain a priority for the rescue teams.
Capacity of local hospitals has proved to be insufficient as more and more injured people are being discovered. Additionally, fears of spread of diseases has been on the rise as people have spend the night on the street at extremely low temperatures.
The UN has stated it will be launching a massive rescue operation, as announced by the Secretary General Ban Ki-moon. The EU has expressed its readiness to assist the damaged regions and the rescue operations.
Additionally, rescue teams from China, Japan, USA and Australia are already on site. Australia and the US have already issued initial humanitarian aid of respectively USD 5 M and USD 1 M.
Pakistan has deployed four military jets to delivery food and supplies to people in need. Denmark has allocated a USD 730,000 humanitarian grant to Nepal, and Russia has deployed two military jets with Russian rescue teams in an attempt to alleviate the damages done after the earthquake.
