Inside Bulgaria's Easter Celebrations: Traditions Passed Through Generations
Today marks the joyous celebration of Easter, one of the most significant holidays in the Orthodox Christian calendar.
An obligatory administrative sanction has been issued, stopping the construction works near Bulgaria's southern Black Sea beach of Coral.
Minister of the Environment and Waters Ivelina Vasileva stated Thursday that the law on protection of biological diversity has not been upheld.
''We have received the executive order of the PM Boiko Borisov and the Ministry of Regional Devlopment to undertake actions and to stop the cnstruction works,'' stated Vasileva. ''The Tsarevo municipality has issued a statement that the territory is in fact urbanized and has a construction permit from 2012. The Directorate for National Construction Control (DNSK) has confirmed that the documents are valid.''
Meanwhile, a commission consisting of experts of the Ministry of the Environment and Waters, Ministry of Regional Development, Bulgarian Academy of Sciences (BAN) and other institutions will be establishing whether the land approved is in fact located upon sand dunes.
However, manager of the construction company Stamo Stamov said that he has yet not received the order for suspension of the construction works.
''So far a number of institutions have been on site and have conducted checks but I have not received a construction suspension order,'' Stamov added. '' We have stopped working for several days now because of the essence of the process. You can clearly see in the municipality register that those are not sand dunes, but merely sands blown by the wind to the ground.''
Minister Ivelina Vasileva stated Thursday that the Directorate on Construction Control has issued an act for the removal of the fence along the Kranevo beach.
