New Russian Missile Attacks in Ukraine
Ukraine finds itself once again under fire from Russian missiles, marking a new wave of violence in the region
Greek PM Alexis Tsipras starts a two-day visit in the Russian capital Moscow. He will be meeting Russian President Vladimir Putin Wednesday.
Even prior to the actual diplomatic talks, the official visit has raised alarm across the EU, the Bulgarian National Television (BNT) reported.
Allegedly, the discussion topics will involve economics, culture and humanitarian issues. It is also expected that Tsipras and Putin will be talking about current international problems and the various opportunities for cooperation between Greece and Russia.
Analysts believe that that Athens is among those most interested in participating in the Turkish Stream project, as well as the elimination of the Russian embargo upon Greek imports.
The visit of the Greek PM in Russia raised the alarm in Brussels, as the most debated question remains whether Tsipras will be willing to step over EU policies in order to secure the country's own interests.
Last week, Tsipras stated his opposition to the EU-imposed economic sanctions against Russia, explaining that they will ''lead to nowhere''.
The Greek PM has also stated that Germany still owes his country EUR 279 B in WWII reparations, causing turmoil among politicians across Europe.
Meanwhile, negotiations on the extension of the Greek bailout program have been put into a halt. The Eurogroup and the Balkan country are hoping that they could continue their talks over the next one week.
