Severe health porblems are often caused by insufficient consumation of water and liquids, including a risk of disruption in the functioning of the nrevous systen, thermoregulation, and alkale-acid balance. The aging processes are also activated.
This was announced by Prof. Dr Donka Bayokova, Head of the Preventative Medicine Department to the Medical University in Sofia during the official launch of the national campaign H2Obicham.
The campaign will aim at raising awareness prior to the World water Day on March 22 and is a joined initiative of the NGO I Love Water, the Faculty of Public Health to the Medical University in Sofia and mineral water company DEVIN.
''Dehydration as a result of insufficient daily water intake could lead to low mental and physical working efficiency, attention disruptions, tiredness and headaches, as well as irregulation of the body temperature,'' stated Prof. Dr Veselka Duleva, national consultant to the Ministry of Health and Head of the Foods and Nutrition Department to the National Center on Public Health and Analyses.

The overall piece of advice shared was that everyone should consume at least 6 to 8 cups of water daily and it applies to all age groups.
''The World Water Day, marked annualy on March 22, is just another occassion that could remind us that water is an invaluable resource, essential to our lives,'' said Antoaneta Salfidge at the campaign presentation. ''Our goal, however, will be to inform a bigger portion of society on its importance and the values of hydration.''
The mineral water producer DEVIN EAD also took a stance in support of the national campaign and the goal of promoting healthy living across the country.
During the Q&A session another anti-ageing secret was revealed - a glass of hot water a day before brekafast was said to be extremely helpful in the body's detox processes. The technique was said to have been used by a number of celebrities, including Bulgaria's famous singer Lili Ivanova.
The initiative itself will develop through a series of activities.
Everyone willing to measure thier own level of hydration will have the opportunity to do so on the World Water Day through a special monitoring device, presented at the press conference. The first round of activities will take place on March 22 at The Mall in Sofia and The Museum Earth and People in the capital.

More information will be released soon on the campaign's official website www.h2obicham.bg and the Facebook Page H2Obicham.
