Center-right GERB is the only viable party in Bulgaria, its Deputy Chair and former Interior Minister Tsvetan Tsvetanov has said.
In an interview with the Bulgarian National Television, he said that the conservative Citizens for European Development of Bulgaria (GERB), the party at the helm of Bulgaria's minority coalition, is expected to be "the dominant force" and that both its junior partner Reformist Bloc (RB) and "all those who think in a democratic way" should support it.
"If we came third, which is not very likely, we would back parties that are part of the country's government in order to boost the government that is [in office] at the moment," Tsvetanov added.
Tsvetanov's comments come after his Saturday statement that the party will go it alone at the local elections due this autumn in all Bulgarian regions.
The ex-Interior Minister also reiterated his party's determination to hold an open procedure to forge its lists of municipal councilor candidates.
