Inside Bulgaria's Easter Celebrations: Traditions Passed Through Generations
Today marks the joyous celebration of Easter, one of the most significant holidays in the Orthodox Christian calendar.
Left-wing ABV, one of the parties supporting Bulgaria's coalition government, will decide whether it will continue to provide its backing for the cabinet in April.
This was announced by former President Georgi Parvanov in an interview for private NOVA TV station on Saturday.
Parvanov, who recently resigned ABV's leadership due to his party's support for the issue of new BGN 16 B debt, said that the decision will depend on the reforms proposed by the government.
He explained that ABV was behaving as an opposition as no dialogue was taking place between the parties supporting the coalition government and there were no adequate policies and reforms.
Parvanov accused Prime Minister Boyko Borisov and the ministers of doing whatever was to their liking.
However he defended Deputy Prime Minister and fellow party member Ivaylo Kalfin, identifying him as one of the best performing ministers.
The former President stated that in case one of the opposition parties tables a vote of no confidence in the government on its energy policy, ABV is likely to support it.
Parvanov also commented the nomination of former interim Interior Minister Yordan Bakalov to the position of Director of the Defence Information Service.
According to him, Bakalov was not an adequate choice and accused the junior coalition partners from the Reformist Bloc (RB) of wanting to appoint their cadres throughout all the special services.
Parvanov was unaware of the nomination for chief of the State Agency for National Security (DANS), as no consultations have been held with ABV.
