A demonstration held by the Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP) began Wednesday morning over the cabinet's intention to secure BGN 16 B in new loans, a plan that is to be voted by Parliament later on.

The protest united supporters of both the BSP and nationalist Ataka with hundreds also using the occasion to vent their disgruntlement at NATO's plans to set up a command center in Bulgaria.

Volen Siderov, Ataka's leader, called on demonstrators to continue taking to the streets, declaring protest action will continue until the government resigned.

Earlier, Prime Minister Boyko Borisov hinted he might step down if Parliament failed to give the green light on a fresh foreign borrowing.
