A man has fired at a municipal police officers near Paris, leaving one officer and a municipal official severely hurt.

Police have detained a suspect, and government officials are due to visit the crime scene later on Thursday, the Bulgarian News Agency reports citing AFP.

The incident comes less than twenty-four hours after the attack on Charlie Hebdo weekly which claimed 12 lives and left 11 people wounded.

Authorities are not inclined to comment on whether there is a connection between the two events, but according to Le Monde newspaper, citing officials from the French prosecution, the incidents are not related.
