Bulgarian President Rosen Plevneliev declared himself against the possibility that the army is to guard the country's border with Turkey against the wave of refugees.

Plevneliev said that it was not a reasonable idea to guard the border with the participation of units of the Bulgarian army, as this could have grave consequences for Bulgaria's external relations, Darik radio reports.

The Bulgarian President declared that he could not allow for the Bulgarian army to position itself at the border when there was no army on the opposite side.

Plevneliev hinted at the eventual diplomatic scandal that could erupt in case it became clear that Bulgaria has stationed troops and armoured vehicles at its border with an allied country such as Turkey.

The Head of State deemed such a development as unthinkable and expressed hope that the government will find the right solution.

According to Plevneliev, the Interior Ministry had to find the necessary forces and resources to deal with the situation at the border, or be provided with such, in case these capacities were not available.
