Pristine Bulgarian Coastline: 23 Beaches Receive 'Blue Flag' Honors
The "Blue Flag" program's international jury has recognized the excellence of 23 Bulgarian beaches and the Marina "Dinevi" by awarding them with the prestigious certificate
Bulgaria's Interior Ministry has been provided with reliable evidences from its Greek colleagues that the former chief of the State Agency for National Security (DANS) Petko Sertov is in Greece.
Sertov, who has been missing since December 5, registered at hotel Nana in the quarter Larissa in Athens on December 20.
This was announced by the Chief Secretary of the Interior Ministry Svetlozar Lazarov on Tuesday, electronic daily Dnevnik reports.
On December 21 Sertov went around on his own in the area of the hotel, which is close to the railway station of Athens, he dined in the tavern of the hotel, talked in English and Greek, and seemed to be calm.
On December 22 he left the hotel on his own, Lazarov added.
The Interior Ministry had information that Sertov has reached the border with Greece, but did not have official notification from the local police of his whereabouts.
Lazarov called on Sertov, as a fellow colleague and man of their ranks, to show his identity card whenever possible in any police department on the territory of the European Union so that Bulgarian authorities can suspend his search and not delve further into his personal life.
Lazarov said that Sertov has neither committed any crime nor were there evidences for any infringement.
There were also no evidences that any crimes have been perpetrated against him, so Lazarov expressed his hope that Sertov would make a gesture towards his colleagues by identifying himself.
Several times Lazarov repeated that the procedure for Sertov's quest could be suspended if his location is identified through the presentation of his identity card.
Lazarov explained that the Interior Ministry could not establish contact with Sertov as it had no basis to detain him.
In case Sertov appears in a police department, the quest procedure will be terminated and no forced relocation of him will be undertaken.
Sertov's son has been informed of the latest developments.
According to Lazarov, Sertov's wife, who submitted the signal for his quest, can not suspend the procedure.
Lazarov said that there exist two options in case Sertov is stopped during a police check somewhere and presents his identity card.
In the first case, upon the presentation of his identity card, it can be established that there is nothing irregular and he can be released.
The second option is to make a check in the system, which will establish that there is quest for his location, and following the application of a simple procedure his quest can be terminated.
The Interior Ministry has no information in which direction Sertov went following his check out from the hotel on Monday.
Lazarov announced that the car with which Sertov was photographed at the Bulgarian-Greek border has not been noticed in the area of the hotel, in which Sertov spent the weekend.
The chief secretary abstained from commenting whether Sertov had personal problem and personal motive for his disappearance.
There existed several hypotheses, but the best Sertov could do is to present his identity card.
Lazarov thanked his Greek colleagues for their good coordination, as they provided Bulgarian authorities with detailed information on Sertov's movements in the country in real time.
