Bulgaria's Justice Minister Hristo Ivanov expects a negative annual report on justice and internal affairs of the European Commission on Bulgaria.

Ivanov told the BNT public broadcaster breakfast show, that most likely the EC will conclude that Bulgaria “has lost direction in the judiciary reform and loses the trust of its international partners.”

Ivanov also said the report will most likely affect Bulgaria's accession to the Schengen area.

“We must bring back the trust that the country has a clear plan and direction and the responsibility is of all institutions,” Ivanov said.

In his words, it was necessary not only to change the laws, but to change the attitude of the institutions.
