The recently elected Predisent of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan has a meeting with the leader of the Movement for Rights and Freedoms (DPS), Lyutvi Mestan, reports the BTA wire service, quoting Turkish media.
The meeting took place on Friday in the presidential palace Cankaya in Ankara.
There is no official information on the subject of talks, which were closed for the media.
According to the reports, Mestan was accompanied by his deputy Rushen Risa and the candidate MPs Husein Hafsuzov and Shabanali Ahmed. Turkish Ambassador to Bulgaria Suleyman Gokce.
This is the first meeting of Erdogan with a DPS leader, who up until recently had closer connections with DPS renegades Kasim Dal and Korman Ismailov, who set up Freedom and Dignity People's Party.
Meanwhile, Osman Oktai, former deputy leader of DPS told Nova TV on Saturday that the meeting between Erdogan and Mestan was “a very bad sign”.
“When Ankara supports one party during an election campaign, this is not good for bilateral relations”, Oktai said.
He expressed his concern that there might be serious manipulations with the votes of the Turks of Bulgarian origin who hold dual citizenship and are allowed to vote in Bulgaria's elections.
