Bulgaria's tennis player Tsvetana Pironkova started its participation in the US Open tennis tournament with victory, reports Dnes.bg.
She beat the Italian Karin Knapp by 6:4, 6:3 and qualified for the second round. There Pironkova will face Jelena Jankovic.
Last year Pironkova dropped out of the tournament in the second round. In 2012 she reached the fourth round where she lost to Ana Ivanovic.
