From Red Eggs to Lamb: Unveiling the Rich Flavors of Bulgarian Easter
Easter approaches, anticipation builds for one of the most cherished Christian holidays celebrated in Bulgaria
Germany will not send back to Bulgaria the 3000 refugees, as previously reported, the State Agency for Refugees (DAB) chief Nikolay Chirpanliev told bTV.
He said that German president Joachim Gauck recommended to the German government to accept the socially vulnerable refugees.
Meanwhile, the bTV national channel reports that the jobs offered to the refugees in Sofia remain widely vacant.
According to the report, there have been 15 job fairs for the refugees in the Voenna Rampa refugee centre.
The commandant of the centre Petar Dzhurenov told the channel that some of the refugees claimed they were highly educated and don't want to work in agriculture or other type of low skilled labour.
Dzhurenov also said the refugees were unhappy with the low pay. “Some employees offer BGN 600-700 per month, plus training and housing, which is not bad at all, but the refugees just can't be bothered,” he said.
Dzhurenov claimed the only goal of the refugees was to go to Western Europe and live on the dole. A claim, substantiated by the residents of Voenna Rampa who say that once they get a status, they want to go to Germany.
