A sum of around BGFN 150 000 has disappeared from a bank vault in the Lozenets district of Sofia.
About one month ago, a customer of the bank decided to open his safe deposit box and found that it was empty, with no traces of having been forced open or unlocked, according to reports of the Bulgarian National Radio. He told the police that he had had EUR 20 000 and BGN 30 000 in the box.
A few days later, two other people complained that they had found their boxes empty, one of them claiming that he had had around EUR 16 000 in it and the other one a sum of around EUR 30 000.
The two waited for a few days before declaring that the money disappeared. Representatives of the Interior Ministry confirmed in an informal conversation that they were investigating the matter.
The police received no tip-off about a robbery or a break-in or any other offence.
Police are also seeking to establish why the people waited for several days before reporting the matter to the competent authorities.
