Survey: GERB Set to Dominate Next Parliament with 80 Deputies, WCC-DB to Lose More Seats
The upcoming composition of the 50th National Assembly projects GERB to secure 80 seats, a slight increase from their current 69
Lawmakers from center-right GERB have refused to register in Parliament for a second time this week.
As a result, MPs canceled their plenary session over lack of quorum.
The opposition declared it would not take part in sessions until the cabinet resigns.
GERB, the biggest party in Parliament, is the second to take such a step in days after far-right party Ataka announced on Monday it would boycott Parliament until Prime Minister Plamen Oresharski's cabinet steps down.
Early elections are now scheduled for October 5, and August 6 is the date for President Rosen Plevneliev to appoint an interim government, but no cabinet resignation has yet been handed.
Oresharski himself said Wednesday he would chose a suitable date at the end of August to announce the move.
He even commented ironically that he hopes lawmakers are able to reach quorum at the day when he is to step down.
