French President Emmanuel Macron has designated Varna as one of his favored travel destination
Central and Southeastern Bulgaria are expected to see river levels rising over the next 24 hours, hydrologists have warned.
Though rivers flowing into the Danube or the Black Sea are mostly expected to go up, the whole Bulgarian territory will be affected, private channel bTV reports citing forecasts.
Environment Ministry officials are concerned that waters in the Fakiyska and Ropotamo rivers are rising now, and more floods caused by new torrential rains are not an unlikely scenario.
Ten people have been confirmed dead and three are declared missing after rains and thunderstorms originated a tremendous flooding in the low-lying parts of Varna's Asparuhovo district.
Apart from the northern Black Sea coastline, a state of emergency has been declared in a number of towns and cities across Central and Northeastern Bulgaria, including Veliko Tarnovo and Shumen, but also in the southern town of Pazardzhik.
Meanwhile northeastern town of Dobrich's Interior Ministry Department has informed that the Suha Reka is also swelling and this could lead to a new tidal wave in Dobrich, where a state of emergency was declared after two people lost their lives early Friday as a results of the floods in some areas.
Those living along the Russia Blvd, where the Suha Reka river flows, have been advised to take all safety measures necessary.
Prime Minister Plamen Oresharski and Interior Minister Tsvetlin Yovchev were in Dobrich on Friday noon, as the town has been the hardest-hit place by severe floods after Varna over the past hours.
