PM Plamen Oresharski and the European Commissioner Laszlo Andor have discussed the future of the Bulgarian pension reform, as well as the structural unemployment, Monday.
The European Commissioner for Employment, Social Affairs and Inclusion Laszlo Andor has met with Prime Minister Oresharski earlier Monday during his two-day visit to Sofia.
Oresharski claimed that the pension reform is currently being revised and updated, BGNES reports. He and EU Commissioner Andor have discussed the youth unemployment programs and the integration of refugees and Roma people in Bulgaria, as well.
The EU Commissioner noted that the European economy is coming out of a long recession, but the problems of structural and youth unemployment remain.
"We have suggested a common European scheme called 'Youth Guarantee'. The implementation of this program is essential for Bulgaria as it provides additional EU financial support, resulting in major reforms in employment and professional qualification," Commissioner Andor said.
"We must deal with unemployment on a much larger scale and make sure that the EU fiscal and monetary policy is in accordance with this steady economic recovery. We should proceed with a better agenda for economic prosperity and social inclusion," Laszlo Andor said.
The European Social Fund will allocate 20% more funds to Bulgaria in the next programming period, the EU Commissioner pledged, as cited by BGNES.
