Bulgargaz Forecasts 5-6% Dip in Natural Gas Prices for May

Bulgaria's intentions to scrap permits of grid operators could do nothing more than "to feed some people's ego", EURELECTRIC head Hans Ten Berge said in Bulgaria.
Suspension of licenses can neither change the status quo in the country's energy sector nor push prices down, the Secretary General of the European Institute for Energy Industry explained. He is in Sofia for a public lecture on challenges which the energy market is facing.
Ten Berge believes "a huge distrust" reigns among players on the market - power stations, renewables, grid operators and end consumers - and this has to be dealt with to prevent the system from collapsing.
"In this country I see things I find difficult to understand. You have the lowest energy price in the whole EU. You have foreign investors... [but] you do not seek solutions and [instead] set players against each other, provoke license suspension and destroy the future," Ten Berge said.
He is also of the opinion that low energy prices often lead to a situation where revenues cannot cover production costs.
Ten Bergen's words come amid a heated dispute between the National Electricity Company (NEK) and foreign power distributors in Bulgaria over debt claims.
