Putin's Visit to China: Strengthening Bilateral Ties Amid Global Chaos
During a meeting in Beijing, Presidents Xi Jinping and Vladimir Putin hailed the relationship between China and Russia as a stabilizing influence amidst global turmoil
The official websites of the Russian president and the Bank of Russia became target of a series of coordinated cyber attacks by hackers, officials said Friday.
"A powerful attack on the site is ongoing," a spokesperson for the Kremlin said Friday. "Measures are being taken to restore the normal functioning of the site."
By early Friday afternoon the two websites appeared to be functioning normally, Russian Ria Novosti reports.
The President's Administration denied the allegations that the cyber attack on the Kremlin website is linked to the events in Ukraine, a source in the Kremlin told Itar-Tass on Friday.
According to the source,"similar spamming mailings occur very often, but with different intensity." "It is wrong to link them to the events in Ukraine".
Meanwhile, Russian authorities have blocked three websites and a blog, including platforms used by the opposition figures Aleksei Navalny and Garry Kasparov, in line with a law that took effect on 1 February allowing the authorities to order providers to block sites containing "extremist" content or calls for unauthorized public gatherings, New York Times reports.
The moves came amid rising tensions over the crisis in Ukraine.
