Two days before the start of the Winter Olympic Games in Sochi, gay rights activists across the world are holding protests against Russia's controversial homosexuality laws.
The rallies will be held in 19 cities across several continents, the BBC reports.
The protests aim to influence corporate sponsors of the Sochi Olympics to speak out against Russia's laws again homosexual propaganda. Recently, the mayor of Sochi claimed "there are no gay people in the city", and homosexuals are welcome "as long as they do not impose their ways on others".
"All we are saying is that we can't just ignore the fact that this is happening in Russia where these anti-gay laws are preventing the Olympic values being lived and enjoyed by millions of people", Marie Campbell, director of the All Out Group told the BBC.
The only Russian city where protests are planned for Wednesday is St. Petersburg.
