Disparate schedules have made it impossible for Bulgarian President Rosen Plevnelievi to meet Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu, announced Plevneliev's office.
Davutoglu had been invited by Bulgarian Foreign Affairs Minister Kristian Vigenin, and the cancellation was interpreted by Turkish media as "arrogant" on the part of the Bulgarian President.
"The visit of Turkish Minister of Foreing Affairs minister Ahmet Davutoglu has been postponed due to technical reasons - disparate schedules and impossibility to meet in the desired period," said the Bulgarian President's Office for the news site OffNews.bg.
Later Plevneliev himself, while on a trip to the central Bulgarian town of Panagyurishte, cited "entirely technical reasons" for the cancellation.
On its part, the Bulgarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has issued an official release saying that the visit is being renegotiated.
"A visit by Turkey's Minister of Foreign Affairs Ahmet Davutoglu to the Republic of Bulgaria was negotiated during the visit of Minister Vigenin to Ankara in October 2013."
"The dates and program of minister Davutoglu are currently being determined," added the Bulgarian Foreign Affairs Ministry.
