Condolences and an offer of assistance from the EU to locate the helicopter carrying Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi have stirred widespread anger
Liberal party Movement for Rights and Freedoms has prepared a complaint with Bulgaria's Constitutional Court over a controversial ban on the sale of land to foreign nationals passed by Parliament last week.
According to the Movement, the act, which extends for 7 more years a transitional moratorium, is manifestly in breach of Bulgaria's Constitution and EU Accession Treaty.
In order to file the complaint with the Constitutional Court, the 36 liberal MPs, who have all signed it, will have to gather at least 12 more MP signatures to reach the number of 48, or 1/5 of deputies in Bulgaria's Parliament.
MRF chair Lyutvi Mestan said Tuesday that his party expect support of MPs from informal coalition partner, the Bulgarian Socialist Party.
Last week, some socialist MPs surprisingly voted in favor of the moratorium extension, ensuring its passing by the house, together with opposition GERB and Ataka MPs, who had vocally supported the ban.
Socialist MP and vice-chair Yanaki Stoilov said that MPs from his group will decide after studying MRF's motion.
Stoilov also added that his group is considering amendments to Bulgaria's Land Act to arrange issues raised by the moratorium.
