The cheapest meal in the Brussels restaurant La Maison du Cygne (The House of the Swan) where Bulgarian lawmakers from the extreme nationalist party Ataka wreaked havoc last week was EUR 28.
The information was reported by Nikolay Staykov coordinator of the anti-government site Noresharski.com, speaking for Nova TV.
The cost of meals and drinks in the upscale restaurant is listed on its menu and can be found on its website.
Staykov said the initial information on the rampage staged by Ataka MPs and their leader, Volen Siderov, came from supporters of the so-called "protest network" and the anti-government news agency NOresharski.com.
The restaurant confirmed the incident, including the group of Bulgarian officials refusing to pay the bill, but did not mention any names.
According to Staykov, one of many proofs of the shameful behavior of Siderov and company is the refusal of Ataka leader to talk about the incident, being evasive about, it and failing to firmly deny the reports.
Two days ago, it became clear that during his visit to Brussels, the nationalists have stirred a huge scandal in the "House of the Swan" after they were refused to be served more alcohol.
Initially, Ataka announced they were on a trip to the Belgian capital to hold official meetings with MEPs, but it emerged later that they have not been accepted anywhere and by anyone.
The trip has been paid with public funds, it was also revealed. Siderov declared the story about his parliamentary group's embarrassing acts was full of lies and vowed to sue any media outlet that has published such information.
During a Wednesday interview for the morning show on TV7, when the host inquired about the incident, Siderov advised him live on air to consult with the owners of the TV channel before asking him questions.
