Government spokesman Manoah Esipisu immediately denied the claim, telling The Associated Press no chemical weapons were used and that the official civilian death toll remains 61.

President Uhuru Kenyatta said 67 people had died, including six security personnel. Five militants were killed and 11 suspects arrested, he added.
