Bulgarian winger Martin Petrov is about to depart from Sofia to England this weekend to undergo medical tests and sign for an English side, local media reported.
The name of the club however remains unknown.
Petrov became a player at the Spanish Espanyol in the middle of January this year.
The 33-year-old former Bulgaria international's contract was until the end of the season, but the club refused to extend it for one more year.
Previously, though in the latter years of his career, he was part of Bolton Wanderers.
Petrov joined Bolton Wanderers from Manchester City in the summer of 2010 and made 85 appearances for the club, scoring 12 goals.
Petrov worked with Espanyol coach Javier Aguirre during his successful stay at Atletico Madrid (2005-2007).
