Bulgarian State Agency for National Security's new director must invest his most concerted efforts to curb financial crime in the country, stated Bulgarian PM Plamen Oresharski.
Friday the Bulgarian Parliament elected at Oresharski's proposal Vladimir Pisanchev, a top officer within the National Security Agency (DANS), to chair the body.
In one of its first legislative acts, Bulgaria's 42nd Parliament had transfered the police unit for fight against organized crime (GDBOP) from under the Ministry of Interior to DANS.
"I will be monitoring strictly the improvement in taxes collection rates, and after a few months I will make an assessment of DANS's work," stated Oresharski Friday.
"As the Agency's director, Pisanchev will have the exceptionally hard and important job to fight smuggling, financial fraud, tax evasion, corruption...," said the Bulgarian PM.
At the same time, Oresharski added that he has full trust in Pisanchev and that stands firmly behind his appointment.
