For a fifth day in a row, thousands of Bulgarians have gathered in front of the Council of Ministers building in Sofia to demand the resignation of the socialist-led government of Prime Minister Plamen Oresharski.
The number of protesters on fifth day of demonstrations in Sofia has dropped to around 7000, according to reports of the Interior Ministry, as cited by Sega daily.
The people are once again waving Bulgarian flags, carrying posters, and chanting "Mafia" and "Red thrash."
Police have detained nine people since the beginning of Tuesday's rally over fears of violent behavior.
Police have assured they have taken all steps to secure a peaceful rally.
The series of mass nationwide protests in Bulgaria started over the controversial appointment of Delyan Peevski, media mogul and MP of ethnic Turkish party Movement for Rights and Freedoms, as Chair of the State Agency for National Security (DANS).
The scandalous move caused thousands of Bulgarians to take to the streets, calling for the resignation of the government and for a change of the corrupt political model.
Bulgaria's Parliament is to discuss Wednesday a cancellation of the decision for Peevski's appointment.
