Russian President Vladimir Putin and his wife, Lyudmila, said Thursday their marriage is over, according to Russian media.
The announcement has ended years of speculation about their relationship.
"It was our joint decision, our marriage is over," Putin said in the interview to Russia24 state channel, as cited by RT.
Asked to confirm if that was a divorce, Lyudmila Putina told the media “Yes, you can say that, this is civilized divorce.”
Vladimir Putin and Lyudmila Shkrebneva were married in 1983. They have two daughters.
