In the May 12 snap general elections, 34% of voters will cast a ballot for the formerly-ruling centrist Citizens for European Development of Bulgaria party, GERB, according to the latest poll.

GERB's top rival, the Bulgarian Socialist Party, BSP, would get 25%, which is a much larger margin (9%) than in other recent polls.

The poll has been conducted by the National Center for the Study of Public Opinion, NZIOM, where the results are the percentage point share of voters who have listed a concrete political formation as their firm choice.

According to the same poll, the ethnic Turkish Party Movement for Rights and Freedoms, DPS would get 13%, and the far-right, nationalist party Ataka – also 9%.

19% of voters will cast a ballot for parties other than the above four. Four smaller parties have the chance to overcome the 4% threshold to enter the Parliament.

They are the nationalist National Front for Saving Bulgaria, the conservative Order, Law and Justice party, RZS, the right-wing Democrats for Strong Bulgaria, DSB, and the right-wing Bulgaria for Citizens of former EU Commissioner, Meglena Kuneva.

In recent days there is a registered increase in the interest towards the Center – Freedom and Dignity, which is a coalition between the party of former Tsar and Prime Minister, Simeon Saxe-Coburg and of ethnic Turkish politicians (Kasim Dal) who left DPS, and the People's Voice of rock musician Svetoslav Vitkov.

55% if voters will go to the polls.

The NZIOM experts stress that the number of parties in the future Parliament remains unpredictable – from 4 to 7 as are the overall results. The poll has been conducted 4 days ahead of Election Day.
