Bulgaria’s center-right GERB party has a nearly 3% lead over the opposition Bulgarian Socialist Party ahead of the general elections on Sunday, according to a new poll.
The poll conducted by the Afis agency suggests that that some 31.6% of voters would support the center-right GERB, while the left-wing Bulgarian Socialist Party would gather 28.3%.
The ethnic Turkish Movement for Rights and Freedoms comes third with 8.7%, followed by the ultranationalist Ataka (8.4%) and the conservative Law, Order and Justice party (5.2).
The Bulgaria for Citizens movement of former EU Commissioner Meglena Kuneva has 4.9%, followed by the National Front for Salvation of Bulgaria (4.8%).
The Democrats for Strong Bulgaria party of former PM Ivan Kostov (1997-2001) has 3%, according to the poll.
Afis reckons that between five and eight political parties will enter Bulgaria’s next Parliament.
