Survey: GERB Set to Dominate Next Parliament with 80 Deputies, WCC-DB to Lose More Seats

The European People's Party, EPP, is condemning every attempt to turn the Bullgarian prosecution probe in police breaches in the use of special surveillance devices into a political tool, says Joseph Daul, Chairman of the EPP Group in the European Parliament.
In a statement, he further stressed EPP believed that Bulgarian institutions are going to be led by the principles of democracy and the rule of law.
According to the EPP EP Chairman, in a democracy, elections are an important moment to debate policies and political ideas, thus it was key for Bulgarians to embrace their own preferred party's visions for the future, for economic growth, and for creating new jobs.
Daul spoke during EP debates on illegal wiretappings in Bulgaria, saying unlike the Socialists and the Liberals, he called on EU institutions to not become the stage for EU Member States' internal political debates.
He stressed MEPs should not succumb to the temptations to become judges of an ongoing prosecution probe in Bulgaria.
The EPP EP Chairman said he supported a result-oriented election campaign, with accomplished projects, close to the common people, such as the one of the centrist Citizens for European Development of Bulgaria party, GERB.
"I am convinced that with Boyko Borisov and Tsvetan Tsvetanov, Bulgaria is on the right path. With GERB, Bulgaria and Bulgarians will continue their European development and their way to prosperity," Daul stated.
Prime Minister Boyko Borisov, his Deputy and Interior Minister, Tsvetan Tsvetanov, and the GERB Cabinet resigned on February 21 amidst unprecedented since 1997 mass protest rallies against poverty, stagnation and political corruption. Snap general elections will be held on May 12, just two months ahead of the regularly scheduled date.
