Deadly Russian Assault on Odesa Sparks Mourning, Allegations of War Crimes
Tragedy struck the Ukrainian port city of Odesa as Russia unleashed a devastating assault, claiming the lives of five people and leaving over 30 injured
One of the 4 crew critically injured crew members of the Russian passenger plane that crashed in Moscow's Vnukovo Airport Saturday has died Sunday.
"The extensive traumas sustained by the 25-year-old girl were incompatible with life. In spite of doctors' efforts, whe passed away," informed hospital authorities.
This brings the death toll to 5, after 4 other crew members, including the captain and the co-pilot, died in the crash Saturday.
The three remaining crew members remain hospitalized in a critical condition in Moscow.
The families of the victims will receive RUB 1 M each.
The Russian investigation is probing all possible leads in the cause of the crash such as bad weather conditions, human error and technical malfunction and is collecting evidence. The two black boxes have already been found.
The Vnukovo Airport is open for business and the flights are on time and on schedule Sunday.
The Tu-204 plane carried no passengers, only its eight crew members on board.
The incident with the plane, flying in from Pardubice, Czech Republic, took place at around 16:35 local time.
The aircraft of the Russian low-cost Red Wings airline skidded off the runway, burst through a perimeter fence onto the Kiev Highway, and its right wing caught fire.
Russian billionaire, Alexander Lebedev, who owns the Red Wings airline, has pledged to provide material assistance to the families of the victims and the injured.
The plane has been made in 2008 and has been insured for USD 660 M, according to Lebedev.
