The Bulgarian man who nearly killed a 48-year-old woman on Tuesday by pushing her in front of a subway train suffers from paranoid schizophrenia, it has emerged.
The suspect's mother has shown documents proving his condition to police officials, according to local media.
The man has told police that he "has been hearing voices."
The suspect, 32-year-old Asen Tsolov, was charged with attempted murder on Thursday. He is to undergo a psychiatric examination.
The woman, who is deemed lucky to have survived the horrific incident, is still in hospital. Her life is out of danger.
