Bulgaria's national football team will finish 2012 as the world's 50th strongest, according to the latest FIFA/Coca Cola World Ranking.

On November 14, Bulgaria lost 0:1 to Ukraine in a lackluster friendly played in Sofia, the game being Bulgaria's last for 2012.

Bulgaria was ranked 96th in April, but coach Lyuboslav Penev seems to have inspired the team. The team reached the 40th spot in November.

Penev's boys had an impressive start to its World Cup qualifying campaign, holding Italy to a 2:2 draw and defeating Armenia 1:0 in September in Sofia.

The Balkan underdogs then proceeded to hold Denmark and the Czech Republic to two consecutive draws in October.
