The Bulgarian Ski Federation has launched the 2012-2013 winter tourism season with a ski and snowboard festival in Sofia.
The festival "Skiing and Snowboarding in the City" is taking place December 8-9, 2012, near the Soviet Army monument in downtown Sofia.
It will feature participation by the leading skiing and winter tourism resorts in Bulgaria – Bansko, Borovets, Pamporovo, and Vitosha, the BGNES news agency reported.
One of the festival's top attractions is the Street Jib Session – a freestyle ski and snowboard contest.
Every visitor of the festival of the Bulgarian Ski Federation will be entitled to a consultation with leading winter sports specialists in Bulgaria.
Even though the lean snow cover that Sofia got over the week has started to melt, the skiing and snowboarding events in the city will be made possible with special equipment brought in from the ski tracks in Bansko, Bulgaria's largest ski resort.
