The reported upcoming trip of Prime Minister, Boyko Borisov, to Washington DC for a meeting with US President, Barack Obama, is becoming surrounded with a deepening mystery.
One day earlier Deputy Prime Minister, Tsvetan Tsvetanov, cited by Bulgarian media, announced that Borisov will meet the recently reelected for a second term in office US President by the end of 2012.
Wednesday, the Bulgarian Sega (Now) daily has inquired details about the imminent talks with the Council of Ministers, such as if and when they will be held, and received the following answer: "If Minister Tsvetanov said there will be a visit, it means there will be a visit."
The only official report so far has been issued by the Interior Ministry's press office, informing the invitation to Borisov has been extended by John Brennan, who has stressed this would be one of the first meetings of Obama with a foreign leader after the reelection.
Sega have also turned to the White House National Security Council spokeswoman, Caitlin Hayden, who has stated that as of the moment there was no official announcement.
The US Embassy in Sofia have declined explanations on grounds they would not comment on President Obama's agenda.
In a similar inquiry with the American side, the Bulgarian news agency BGNES have received a reply that there weren't currently any official invitation and concrete date.
